Buoyant Bunch
In Buoyant Bunch, a photographic image is overlaid with translucent layers of paint and oil pastel. Layering draws the eye inward even as the cluster appears to move outward, creating a subtle tension between immersion and dispersal.
Set against an emptied background—unlike the dense visual field of the reef—the forms appear isolated, as if extracted for study. This blankness echoes a scientific gesture: to separate, stabilise, and observe, even as the image resists fixation.
